GAME RESULTS SEPTEMBER 9 and 10 The Robbinsville Power, a U10 girl's travel soccer team, made its debut this past Saturday in an exciting match against the Winslow Stars. Although losing 3-1 to Winslow, the Power played an incredible game for their first outing as a team. Jillian Testa scored the Power's first goal of the season, dribbling past two defenders and taking a strong shot that found its home in the back of the net. The defensive backs, Kate Coggins, Lauren Thompson, Nicole Friedberg and Erin Holzbaur provided excellent support to goal keepers Rayna Gilman and Katie Stimmel, who were terrific in goal. Collette Gazonas, Gabrielle Manto, Jessica Orlak, Samantha Jospheson and Sanitra Desai controlled the midfield throughout the game. Their energetic and spirited play offered many well executed attacks and scoring opportunities. The Power will play at home at the Washington Township Community Park on Saturday Sept 16, 2006. The Robbinsville Magic, a U11 girl’s travel team, came out tough in their hot season opener down south in Egg Harbor. The Magic held strong in the first half with some great saves in goal by Emily Risoldi and excellent defending by Sydney Josephson, Christie Tully and Jackie Levering. The second half began with the Magic down 1-0, but within the first 5 minutes of the half the teams were tied 2-2, with Lindsey Tattory and Jackie Levering scoring the Magic’s goals. Despite the strong effort of the Magic’s goalie Jennifer Consiglio, the Egg Harbor offense was not to be stopped and responded with 3 more blazing goals over the next 25 minutes, ending the game 5-2. The Robbinsville Twisters,a U12 girl’s travel team, started their fall season at home this weekend with a solid 2-0 victory over the Washington Twp. (South Jersey) Titans. Sweeper Dina Cifelli, with a strong shot from 20 yards out, put the first goal on the board. Midfielders Kristin Thomas, Ali Valentin, Hannah Binder and Courtney Levering did a great job of controlling the middle. Kelly Koss and Valerie Suto started at wing to keep the ball moving up front. Christine Levering put the game out of reach as she scored in the 2nd half. Defenders Lauren Schmid, Noelle Fahey and stopper/sweeper Nicki Ann Francisco prevented any serious threats, while goalies Allison Maziarz (1st half) and Allison Whitty (2nd half) insured the shut out. Two additions to the team this year, Jenna Garofalo at sweeper and Agata Kowalska at center attack, played terrific as they complemented their teammates in this season opener. The Robbinsville Spirit, a U13 girl's travel team, played the Indian Mills Warriors on Saturday, September 9, 2006. The Robbinsville Spirit tied the Warriors.1-1in their season opener. The Spirit played a technical game and dominated the run of play, logging 11 shots on goal compared to the Warriors 3. Brae McQuade, Abby Coggins, Antoinette Lugossy, Catherine Smart and Sami Klieber were strong and determined as they defended the backline. The Spirit's attacking players energized the match: Nicole Piet, Courtney Wolf, Amanda Orlak, Sarah Ditinger, Mary Nickerson, Bree Clements, Amanda Matayas, Katie Killeen and Erin Young. The Spirit goalkeepers were Sarah Ditinger and Erin Young. The Spirit’s lone goal was scored with Mary Nickerson passing to Amanda Orlak, who then crossed the ball to an open Sarah Ditinger. Sarah Ditinger then placed a solid shot into the Indian Mills goal. Indian Mills came back to score their goal with 10 minutes left in the game. The game was physical, exciting and a, thrill for everyone involved. The Robbinsville Soul, a U14 girl’s travel team, lost its season opener to the TBAA Cheetahs by a score of 3 to 2. The Soul played a dynamic and skillful game, dominating the run of play throughout the match, holding possession for 53 minutes of the 70 minute match. The Soul's first goal of the season was scored by Alyssa McAnany, with a 28 yard blast from the right side of the field. TBAA's goal keeper had an exceptional game, denying over 18 shots on goal, in addition to the 11 crosses that screamed through the goal mouth. The Soul's second goal was finessed by Nicole Yap, which started from a direct kick taken by Missy Baier that was deflected off the far post to McAnany, then deflected by the keeper to the on coming touch of Yap. Defensive back Meghan Finnegan provided smart and spirited support, leadership and determination throughout the match. The Soul's play included excellent individual effort and skill, as well as exceptional passing and decision making from the entire team: Kasey Homan, Heather Dey, Alex Spadavecchia, Monica Thomas, Leah Annito, Missy Baier, Alex Kirzczow, Nicole Papperella, Mariel Mesckunas, Melissa Consiglio, Jaclyn Dilts and the dynamic goal keeper, Erechia Kano. |
