ROBBINSVILLE STRIKERS Game Results The Robbinsville Strikers, a U11 boys travel team, defeated the Union Soccer Clash 4 to 1 on the team opening game of the season. The Strikers moved to the higher flight after their undefeated season last year. The Strikers played an aggressive style of soccer for the entire game with immediate pressure on the ball, with the entire midfield and backline providing cover. Timmy Nemazie, RJ Petagna, Nick Brennan, Kellen Anker and Tommy Lynch worked well together to dispossess the opponent and transition quickly. Jason Dertony, Tyler Sankey, Daniel Gavrushenko added speed and excellent passing to the outside wing positions. The backline defenders, anchored by a relentless and controlled centerback Sam Appeachong, were highly successful in thwarting the opponents attacks. The forwards Brendan Barca, David Haftel, and Kyle Russo worked the ball with precision, out manuvering the opponents on the attack. Kyle Russo and RJ Petagna shared goal keeper duties during the match and were outstanding - with accurate ball distribution and great saves. Brendan Barca netted his first and the teams first goal of the regular season while Kyle Russo logged his first hat trick of the season with three goals. The Strikers next game is against the PDA NB Kickers on Saturday the 25th at 3:30pm at Washington Twp Community Park. |
