Robbinsville Soccer Association and Community Recycling Partner to Recycle Shoes and Raise Funds

ROBBINSVILLE SOCCER ASSOCIATION will collect shoes that will find new owners around the world. From South America and Africa to areas right here in the United States, the recycled shoes will go to help people and communities in over 50 countries.

Through ShoeBox Recycling SoleMate Note initiative, recyclers are urged to include a “SoleMate” note along with their recycled shoes telling their shoes’ new owner where they came from, what they were used for, or even any special memories attached to them. In return, the recipient can write back to complete the SoleMate connection.

"We are thrilled to become a part of this meaningful fundraising program that encourages our Youth Players and their families to take local action to support a larger global movement.” said Paul Brown, President, Robbinsville Soccer Association. “In addition to the social and environmental impact of our recycling efforts, we will be raising much needed funds to support our Youth Development Programs, which are the Believe, Recreation, Travel and Select.

Community Recycling is proud to be a for-profit recycler of shoes. They have flipped the recycling triangle upside down and have mastered the most powerful ‘R’—REUSE. With over 300 million pairs of reusable shoes hitting landfills each year, they are looking to change the way people think about their shoes.

"We want shoe recycling to become habit forming, engaging and rewarding for everyone involved," said Community Recycling president, Ira Baseman. “Our partnership with Robbinsville Soccer Association is a great way to get that message out. ShoeBox Recycling not only helps people around the world but also works to inspire a new generation of recyclers right here in our own communities."

Participating is simple. We are collecting gently used shoes for reuse, meaning all the shoes we recycle as a group are destined for another home. From South America and Africa to areas right here in the United States,  our ShoeBox Recycling efforts will go to help people and communities in over 50 countries.

And what’s even better are the many ways that our community benefits as well. Not only will your recycled shoes help Robbinsville Soccer Association raise funds, it will also help keep usable shoes out of our local landfills. ShoeBox Recycling also gives us a chance to connect with the people and places that receive our recycled sheose. By writing a SoleMate Note to include with your shoes, you can let their new owner know about where they came from, what they were used for, or even any special memories attached to them. In return, they can write back to us and we can make a SoleMate connection.

So start cleaning out your closets and start looking under your bed for gently used shoes. Every pair you recycle means extra funds for us, less landfill waste and the potential to connect us to a SoleMate!
